Grappes are changing color fast in Beaujolais. Vines are pretty but start to suffer from the heat. We shall have half the quantity normally expected, so the 2015 vintage will be a rare. If you had to compare it to another year, it would be 2003: grappes are small with a concentrate juice. Les grappes changent de couleur à toute allure en Beaujolais. We’ll be at the foot of the tree the 26th of August. We are about 2 weeks in advance compared to last year, ready for summer dishes and shorts!

While vines are doing their job, winemakers are mostly enjoying their holiday. August is slow for sales and in the fields, intervention is minimum. We prepare the tank room, cut off a few leaves, look at the wild world magic tricks.

We’ll be 30, head in the bushes. The grape pickers team coming from all over Europe will sleep at the vineyard and will share our meals. Don’t hesitate to send you recipes ideas! Meat eaters, vegetarians, musicians, dancers, engineers, great and small appetites, it’s always a joyful band around the table while serious comes back in the fields, at the head of pruning shears and bottom of buckets. Each year it’s a new bit of history that’s been written up at the vineyard, and a lot of emotion.
