2013 Selection of the Bordeaux Rosé! #vinsdeVicky

This year, 2013, today, I’m about to end my Bordeaux Rosé selection. A cool idea but a big deal that took already quite some time, talks, moves and people. Excitement!

Everything started late January with the Bordeaux & Bordeaux Superieur House that helped me gather some samples. I also asked winemakers I knew and met on Twitter to give me their new juices.

We had a total of 12 rosés, from the best, ready to be open. Time to call the jury! My jury is made of wine connoisseurs and passionates, French men and women from all ages and sights. Here you find journalists, critics, bloggers, wine buyers, the general consumers and some fans that showed great interest in wine that I have spotted in my community. The 15 of us gathered home in Paris, warm inside in the winter cold.

Labels hidden, the judgement was made on color, pleasure and taste. I’m looking for a Bordeaux rosé that will look Bordeauish, a bit darker and red than a Provence, still light in tons. Something fruity, red fruit preferably, easy and certainly not heavy. Something refreshing, seducing but not sweet. Something to give light and a smile to your already long day and long evening to come. your daily rosé.

In between the 12 Bordeaux rosés selected, 3 have been on the top of the podium – Château d’Eyran, Château d’Haurets (vignobles Ducourt), Château de Bonhoste. I visited the vineyards last week to try the wines again, met the winemakers and loved them all for different reasons. In a few minutes I’ll have the final answer. I’m a bit tense, excited and can’t wait to tell you more.

Thank you to all of you that helped me in this quest and jumped into the adventure. You made it happen.
