Vicky's adventures

My first step in Bordeaux, was not so tiny ! #Millesima #Palmer #2009

I never thought that I would drink as many Bordeaux as when I was invited at Millesima, two weeks ago in Bordeaux, because I never thought that I would seriously drink Bordeaux anyway…

I was born thinking that Bordeaux would never be my cup of tea, and it took me over 18 years to like tea at the first place. It would probably make sense that I’d need ten more to appreciate Bordeaux ;)

This day at Millesima was fantastic, first because of the chai, 8000m2, its incredibly big. It also puts you in another world with new dimensions: these of the wooden cases around you. 2 millions wines are stored there, 80% Bordeaux as the company is the major buyer of primeurs. This day, over a hundred of Bordeaux 2009 were lined up and poured by the owners, there to help and make it shine. Just the perfect day to be introduced to Bordeaux!

And yes after a few drops, the 2009 gets the final word, it’s good, sometimes delicious. When the fruit expresses itself, fresh and ripe, that you can add to it a hint of chocolate, some subtile spices, tiny flowers and a silky touch. It’s delicious. When it stays on your palate for long minutes, it is very possible that it is called Château Palmer. Careful it could let you drop a tear!

I’ve never been into big names, big brands, big wines. That’s probably why Bordeaux always got into my nerves. But now and then, one must admit that they get it right. And this feeling of surprised passed, it’s a delightful one to think you can trust a label and that you’re not the only one to feel right.

Now if you can trust a label, find it easily in a shop near you and share it or give it to the people you like without worrying about the real value of what’s inside, then the brand is right and you can relax and smile. Sometimes it’s also all about the moment, like this guy that became your husband but that you could have passed by with no notice in the fastfood line. That you never know, but what you know is when the emotion flows.

Going back to Bordeaux, I didn’t have a crush on every wine, I can’t remember half and they were not all big names and big wines either
. I just had the general impressions that bordeaux propriétaire were very dynamic, enthousiastic, fun to hang out with and welcoming. I also didn’t imagine that they were so many young gentlemen and ladies from the new generation involved in the winery management. And then I’m confident, it should go fine.

it’s March, 9 more month to go before 2012 and I’ve taken a good rythm. If 2010 comes as good as they say, I’m sure I’ll be happy to keep the pace for a few more years ;) .

Thank you Millesima!
