Love your Beaujolais (Nouveau)

Beaujolais Nouveau will never be a GRAND VIN. It had successes and failures, it was fashion and could belong to old times now. But it is a wine that gives you the capacity to share, laught and and enjoy the “right now” . Now think that if it doesn’t give you a headache it’s better, and it’s possible (not just because I am in love with Beaujolais :) ). So read on!

  • Isn’t Beaujolais Nouveau SO UNFASHIONABLE?

Say “Beaujolais nouveau” to a crowd and watch their disgusted face. Terrible! And at the same time I keep on wondering, wouldn’t we be very disappointed to not smell banana in our glass anymore? Irony. I’ve not smelled many bananas this year, and I am very happy.

So who killed Beaujolais Nouveau? 1/3 of the wines from the Beaujolais appellation were once sold as nouveau, today we are picky, tones are left unsold. Only the Japonese seem to still get the joy out of it ( well… don’t worry, Paris is secretly getting very ready).

I am part of the people who make the face. Hating the idea of producers looking at quantity rather than quality. Insulting the marketers who fooled the party lovers up for a nice light and fruity wine. Sad for all the good wine producers that the bad publicity have put in disgrace. ASSEZ !

Gamay ... When fall starts

  • Ne jamais dire jamais (Never say never). Tout est possible (Everything is possible).

And if the Banana style nouveau was outdated, ready to entered the legend? If we were to remake history? After everything from parachutes to the Concorde place being employed, the way to make a fizz now is to organic wines. CAN ORGANIC WINES SAVE THE BEAUJOLAIS NOUVEAU ?

Born in 1957, still alive today, this third Thursday of November in France, we are not giving up. Everywhere in the world, resistant grapes are not at their last fight. Partisans of a new wine with no additive, only good grapes and pur juice are taking more space. I BELIEVE that what’s happening with the primeurs in Beaujolais, could make this short life wine last.

  • Because if a wine with no sulfite is difficult to make well and has difficulties to age well – it has absolutely no difficulty to be drunk young.

Even better, it will reveal the fruit at its best and, with such grapes as 2010, be a mirror of their fresh juiciness.

From what I have secretly tried, in the world of Beaujolais Nouveau 2010, made of 100% pure and healthy grapes, we’ll have a fantastic year.
One with an acidity superior to 09, making it fresher, on the blackberries, peach and other white fruits. One that despite all my dark though, I’ve manage to like, and swallow.

SWALLOW don’t SPIT, and find your way to the good Nouveau !
