Vicky's adventures

April, Fun & Burgundy: Vicky’s Côte Chalonnaise Selection

The Côte chalonnaise was at the honnor at the Bourgogne Live Tasting with two producers from Mercurey.   Concentrate on this read… and feel welcome to sip it after! It is GOOD.

I like so I pour..
Mercurey Village – Le domaine 2007, Domaine de Suremain

VICKY’s BURGUNDY SELECTION… not the LEAST!

My favorite wine provider: Les Mois du Vin has his family in Mercurey. Besides the fact that he is very lucky, he also gave us the huge honnor to share his luck with us all. His cousin Loic was in Paris but no one could come to Lyon due to train perturbations. Nevertheless, we were glad the wines made it there!
Les Mois du Vin is a fun concept created by Olivier de Suremain about a year ago. Follow the wine advice of the great sommelier Jacques Vivet and learn about carefully selected vineyards. Olivier likes small and interesting producers with great stories and delightful wines. No Quantity but quality and originality there… as the short list of domaines selected reveals.

Respectful of their terroir and lover of their products, the specific personnality of each vigneron is revealed in their wine. Want to try? Buy a mix case or register for a monthly contract. Simple and easy the monthly contract will bring to your mail box a few bottles from a different domaine every month.

Another way to try Olivier’s wines is to come to the Vicky Wine Tastings where they are often represented. ;)
Le domaine 2007 ‐ Mercurey Village: Lighter than a 1st cru, it is perfect to drink now. We liked its freshness, the cherry on the palate and would have probably gone on drinking it all night if we had enough bottles. You can purchase this wine in France HERE.
Les Croichots 2007 ‐ Mercurey 1er Cru: Deeper, more intense, this premier cru would want one more year to reach his best. Let it sleep in your cellar for a while or drink it with a good piece of red meat. You can purchase this wine in France HERE.

Mercurey blanc 2008 ‐ 1er Cru: Dry, Fresh, mineral this is a refreshing wine, elegant, structured and clean. A simple ‘bonheur’ for a dry chardonnay lover. You can purchase this wine in France HERE.

Thecool Vincent Gouffier came to Paris… and to Lyon with his magic potions: Crémant de Bourgogne Côte Chalônaise, Bourgogne aligoté, and Mercurey from his family 20 hectares in Mercurey and Fontaine.
In Fontaine, Vincent has developped the A.O.C studio. A place opened to all musiciens, professional and amateurs where anyone they enjoy his passions: Music and Wine. More info coming soon ! Wines first:

Crémant de Bourgogne: Delightful blanc de blanc made in the Champagne way. Tasted blind you’d take it for a good Champagne with a firm bubble and a all the delicatecy of Chardonnay revealed. A good deal for the good apéritif!

Bourgogne Aligoté “clos de Butte Soleil” 2008: is better know in a kir. It is another white grape for Burgundy that is mainly planted in Chardonnay for the white. Even though it still has to win many amateurs heart, Vincent told me many times to take it on the tasting. And yes indeed, this wine doesn’t need any fruit syrup or liquor to be good. It is good.. and light! Only 12 degres. I’d have it on a lunch meal… or a summer apéro!
Mercurey 1er Cru: This is a lighter version of a 1er Cru, more on the fruit and suaveness than the one made on the terroir of the Croichots. It is still structured and tannic and could become your night’s best friend very easily. Beware ;)
