Pronounce the 10 Beaujolais Crus’ names Correctly

Olala! This video is great, only the speaker almost forgot the best of crus, Fleurie!

Beaujolais Crus are 10 – Saint Amour, Chénas, Moulin-à-Vent, Fleurie, Brouilly, Côtes de Brouilly, Régnié, Morgon, Chiroubles, Juliénas.

Don’t think it’s easier for the French to pronounce the name of the 10 Beaujolais Crus, they mainly do the same mistakes as you do : pronouncing the S at the end of Chénas et Juliénas cru just like for Cornas (Rhône Valley). The S makes no sound as well for the Cru Chiroubles or in the word Beaujolais (we say Beaujolais wears an S because they are many).

TIP : Easy to remember if you are good in geography, when you go north of Lyon, the final S in appellation stops sounding. Think easy for an exemple : you’ll never pronounce Chablis, Chablisssssss.

Have a good day & “Buvez du Beaujolais”
